seriously though, they don't have normative force (in my opinion) but it gives weaker parties some moral leverage, for whatever it's worth. after all, be careful what you sign!
i'm not sure i'm clear about what you mean by normative force. please explain, preferrably in an email, and we can have a learned discussion between pundits!
